I am passionate about software excellence and using the power of technology to improve society. I joined Thoughtworks in Chicago back in 1999 as a software developer at the start of my career. I addressed our customers’ toughest business and technology challenges, and established a new Thoughtworks business in China, which is now one of our largest markets.

In 2013 I became CEO, leading Thoughtworks globally in our mission to revolutionize the software industry.

I am proud to have built an environment that encourages teams to experiment, learn from their experiences and be creative. I greatly enjoyed co-writing The Digital Transformation Game Plan with Gary O’Brien and Mike Mason, which we published in 2019 with our learnings on how to drive business value from digital transformations.

I live in Chicago.

As a leader, I am passionate about enabling people to do amazing things, and that’s what led me to join Thoughtworks in 2004: the people I talked to at Thoughtworks had such passion for the company and for technology that I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I became Head of Finance for Europe in 2011 and CFO in 2014, and I have supported the business and our people through many phases of growth and expansion. I am incredibly proud of our enduring commitment to nurturing our technologists and growing their careers.

I am from the US but now live in London, which I love for its global culture.

I began my career as a software engineer, and remain just as passionate about technology today. When I reflect on the relationships we have built with our clients and the truly excellent solutions we have built for them, I couldn’t be more proud of our teams in Germany and across Europe, and to have been a part of it.

I am an author and speaker who is particularly interested in how software can be designed so we can easily add useful capabilities for many years. I am proud to have been part of our growth as a company, and to have helped talented individuals who have gone on to become influential leaders in the industry.

I have written a number of books on software development, including Refactoring and Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture. I am passionate about technology and its transformative power to bring business agility. I started my career in Manufacturing but was drawn into the exciting world of technology in just a few years.

Before joining Thoughtworks, I was working with a startup and my quest for building high-quality software while being agile, led me to the books and writings of Martin Fowler and the like. This influenced me to eventually join Thoughtworks in 2002 as a Quality Analyst.

Since then, I have played a wide spectrum of market, customer and internal facing roles in software delivery, consulting and operations. More recently, I have contributed to the setup, growth and expansion of India and the Middle East market as a Business unit leader. I am proud that we are seen as progressive, inspirational and impactful by our customers, business ecosystem and society in the region.

I have two daughters and I live in Bangalore with my wife.

Now as Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer, I am responsible for advising our global leadership team, leading the global and regional legal teams, and growing and leading our compliance and ethics program.
